1. Is there a minimum age requirement?
Yes. All drivers must be over the age of 25 to drive our vehicles. (Except where customer provides own coverage).
2. Do I need a credit card to rent a vehicle?
Yes. We require a credit card that will authorize for the required deposit for all rentals, unless a corporate account is set up for your business. (Minimum deposit is cost of rental plus $350.00 security hold).
3. Do I need an International Drivers License?
Some foreign Driving Licenses are valid in Canada. If yours was issued in a country whos Drivers Licenses are valid in Canada and the License is written in English, you do not need an International Drivers License.
4. Why do you require a deposit to make a reservation?
We require a deposit as your guarantee that you will be renting the vehicle on the date reserved. Corporate accounts with approved credit excepted.
5. What happens to my deposit if I cancel?
All deposits are non-refundable. However, you may move your rental date once at no charge, provided you give more than 48 hours notice of the change.
6. Do I need a special license to drive your large vans?
You can drive all of our trucks in Ontario with a regular class G Drivers License, provided that the total weight of the truck and load do not exceed 11,000 kilograms. Heavier trucks are available for commercial application (15,000 kilograms). Ask your local Carter Rep for more information.
7. What happens if I return a vehicle late?
Please contact the rental location to make them aware of your late return. The charge for returning a vehicle late is $60 per hour for trucks. For cars, we offer a one hour grace period after which you will be billed for another day.
8. Does Carter Lease and Rentals have commercial rates?
Yes. Please contact your local office for commercial pricing.
